PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL DURING SEASON OF CREATION

27th WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - SUNDAY

O
n this day of the Season of Creation, Jesus reminds us that we are tenants, not owners, of the vineyard entrusted to us. The earth was here before us and it has been given to all creatures as a common home. With gratitude and responsibility, we pray:

Response: LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Alternative: LORD, MAKE US FAITHFUL STEWARDS.
  1. That Church leaders may teach us the difference between entitlement and entrustment: creation is not ours to exploit, but God’s gift placed in our care. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. That government leaders may reject projects that promise progress while displacing communities, destroying livelihoods, degrading their lands, and robbing future generations of a secure home. Let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That we may resist exploiting the fruits of the vineyard for selfish gain while leaving others, especially the most vulnerable, to bear the cost. Let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That all creatures sharing the Earth’s resources with us may have the habitats and conditions they need to flourish. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. That the dead, especially those who gave their lives defending the rights of others and protecting creation, may receive their eternal inheritance. Let us pray to the Lord.
Father, make us faithful tenants of your vineyard, caring for what you have entrusted to us and sharing its fruits with all. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
