26th WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - TUESDAY

O
n this day of the Season of Creation, as we celebrate Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, Archangels, and observe the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, we heed Pope Francis’ call to resist the “throwaway culture.” With gratitude for God’s gifts, we pray:

Response: LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Alternative: LORD, HELP US CHERISH CREATION.
  1. That the Church, strengthened by St Michael, may defend creation and the poor against greed and exploitation. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. That government leaders may promote just systems that reduce food loss and waste and encourage responsible consumption. Let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That, inspired by St Gabriel, we may proclaim by word and example the goodness of creation and the call to live simply. Let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That those who suffer from hunger and malnutrition may, through our solidarity and the healing example of St Raphael, receive nourishment and care. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. That the faithful departed may be welcomed to the heavenly banquet with the angels and saints. Let us pray to the Lord.
Father, free us from the throwaway culture and teach us to receive, share, and care for your gifts. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
