PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL DURING SEASON OF CREATION

26th WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - SUNDAY

O
n this day of the Season of Creation, we are reminded when Pope Francis introduced "care for our common home" as an eighth work of mercy, complementing the traditional lists of seven corporal and seven spiritual works. Let us pray for the grace to let mercy guide every choice we make.

Response: LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Alternative: LORD, MAKE OUR YES TRUE.
  1. That Church leaders may not postpone ecological conversion until others act, but lead by concrete choices toward simpler and more responsible living. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. That government leaders may have the political will to turn promises made at climate conferences into effective action for people and creation. Let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That communities and institutions that have harmed creation may, like the first son, change course and allow repentance to become new practices. Let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That we may overcome the gap between what we say and what we do, especially when our lifestyles contribute to the suffering of the poor. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. That the dead may enter the fullness of God’s renewed creation. Let us pray to the Lord.
Father, make our deeds faithful to our words, that our lives may bear fruit in works of mercy. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
