PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL DURING SEASON OF CREATION

25th WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - WEDNESDAY

O
n this day of the Season of Creation, Jesus sends the Twelve lightly, carrying only what is needed for the journey. Pope Francis reminds us that "less is more" and that we need “to slow down and look at reality in a different way.” May simplicity free us to see more deeply, live more wisely, and serve more generously.

Response: LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Alternative: LORD, TEACH US SIMPLICITY.
  1. That Church leaders may teach us to pause, recover depth in life, and resist the restless pursuit of constant consumption and novelty. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. That government leaders may promote cities and communities where technology, architecture, and development serve human relationships, beauty, and care for creation. Let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That, following the simplicity of the disciples, we may renew ourselves, remembering that our relationship with nature cannot be healed without renewing humanity itself. Let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That those suffering from poverty, conflict, and division may find leaders willing to choose dialogue over violence, cooperation over rivalry, and justice over self-interest. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. That all the dead, especially those who died from illnesses caused or worsened by pollution, may be gathered into God’s eternal embrace. Let us pray to the Lord.
God of the journey, free us from what burdens us and teach us to walk lightly upon the Earth. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
