PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL DURING SEASON OF CREATION

25th WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - SATURDAY

O
n this day of the Season of Creation, the disciples hear Jesus but do not understand and are afraid to ask. Similarly, ecological conversion requires courage to face truths that may disturb us. Let us pray to the Father to make us courageous to respond with faith and conversion.

Response: LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Alternative: LORD, OPEN US TO TRUTH.
  1. That Church leaders may courageously confront denial and indifference toward the climate crisis and help us respond to uncomfortable truths with faith and conversion. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. That government leaders may find the political will to turn climate commitments into decisive and effective action. Let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That citizens, NGOs, and advocacy groups may continue to hold governments accountable and work for stronger protection of people and creation. Let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That nations, recognizing that present efforts are still insufficient, may accelerate action to protect communities most vulnerable to climate change. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. That the memory of those who have died and of species lost forever may deepen our commitment to protect the living and their common home. Let us pray to the Lord.
God of truth, free us from fear and give us courage to hear what creation is telling us and respond with faith and action. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
