PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL DURING SEASON OF CREATION

25th WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - SUNDAY

O
n this day of the Season of Creation, Jesus tells of workers welcomed into the vineyard even at the final hour. Magnifica Humanitas reminds us that work “expresses and enhances the dignity of our lives.” Let us pray for a world where technology serves people and the Earth that sustains our work is cared for.

Response: LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Alternative: LORD, UPHOLD HUMAN DIGNITY.
  1. That Church leaders may speak courageously when automation and artificial intelligence diminish workers’ dignity, freedom, and creativity. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. That government leaders may protect and accompany the elderly, recognizing them as the roots that nourish younger generations with memory, wisdom, values, and experience. Let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That those left waiting for work may find dignified employment and meaningful participation rather than exclusion from society. Let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That those considered “useless or inconvenient” because they cannot keep pace with society’s demands for efficiency may receive protection, opportunities, and the respect due to every human person. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. That all the dead may be welcomed into the eternal vineyard, especially unborn children who were never given the chance to see and share in the vineyard of this world. Let us pray to the Lord.
God of the vineyard, teach us never to measure human worth by productivity, but to ensure that all have dignified work and a share in its fruits. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
