PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL DURING SEASON OF CREATION

25th WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - FRIDAY

O
n this day of the Season of Creation, Peter confesses Jesus as “the Christ of God.” Pope Francis calls us “to accept the world as a sacrament of communion, as a way of sharing with God and our neighbours on a global scale.” May our confession of Christ deepen our communion with God, humanity, and creation.

Response: LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Alternative: LORD, RENEW OUR COMMUNION.
  1. That Church leaders, like Peter, may confess Jesus as the Christ and allow that confession to continually transform how they live and serve. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. That leaders of nations may recognize that our common home calls for common responsibility and united action. Let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That the Amazon rainforest—often called the "lungs of the Earth"—with its vast forests and extraordinary biodiversity, may be protected from destruction for present and future generations. Let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That Christian Churches may grow toward full communion by working together in prayer and action for the care of our common home. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. That all who have encountered “Sister Bodily Death,” whom Saint Francis welcomed as part of our creaturely journey, may enter the fullness of life with Christ. Let us pray to the Lord.
God of all creation, deepen our communion with you, with one another, and with all you have made. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
