PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL DURING SEASON OF CREATION

24th WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - WEDNESDAY

O
n this day of the Season of Creation, Jesus challenges a generation that wants everything on its own terms. Laudato Si’ reminds us: “We are not God.” The Earth is not ours alone; God entrusts it to us with future generations also in mind. Let us ask for wisdom to listen and respond.

Response: LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Alternative: LORD, TEACH US TO LISTEN.
  1. That Church leaders may teach that human dominion over the Earth is not a license for unbridled exploitation, but a responsibility to care for creation. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. That government leaders may reject every claim to absolute ownership and govern the Earth’s resources for the common good. Let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That, following the example of Jesus, we may embrace ecological conversion and remain open to the surprising ways God calls us to change even if inconvenient. Let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That those who struggle for their daily needs may receive their rightful share of the Earth’s bounty without depriving future generations of its fruitfulness. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. That the dead may be welcomed into the fullness of God’s wisdom and love. Let us pray to the Lord.
God of creation, free us from demanding that everything follow our terms. Give us wisdom to listen, change, and care for what belongs to you. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
