PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL DURING SEASON OF CREATION

23rd WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - FRIDAY

O
n this day of the Season of Creation, Pope Leo XIV reminds us: “What is broken around us is also broken within us.” As Jesus calls us to remove the beam from our own eye, may we recognize that healing creation requires not only reforming structures but also renewing our hearts.

Response: LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Alternative: LORD, HELP US SEE CLEARLY.

  1. That Church leaders may humbly learn from creation as a teacher, discerning in its rhythms, limits, and interdependence how to guide God’s people toward greater care for our common home. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. That government leaders may resist blaming others for ecological destruction and honestly examine the policies, priorities, and interests that prevent them from seeing and addressing their own responsibility. Let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That, following the example of Jesus, we may examine our own choices before judging others, allowing ecological conversion to begin within ourselves. Let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That those whose poverty leaves them most exposed to environmental disasters may receive the resources and support they need to prepare, recover, and rebuild their lives. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. That the dead may now see God face to face and rejoice forever in the fullness of creation restored in Christ. Let us pray to the Lord.
God of light, remove whatever blinds us to the wounds within ourselves and around us. Renew our hearts, that we may see clearly and become faithful stewards of all you have made. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
