PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL DURING SEASON OF CREATION
23rd WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - WEDNESDAY
23rd WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - WEDNESDAY
O
n this day of the Season of Creation, Jesus calls blessed—the poor, the hungry, the grieving, and the excluded. Pope Francis reminds us: “The gravest effects of all attacks on the environment are suffered by the poorest.” Attentive to their many faces and to the cry of the Earth, let us pray:
Response: LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Alternative: LORD, REMEMBER THE FORGOTTEN.
- That the Church may stand with homeless families and those living in unsafe settlements, bearing witness to Jesus’s promise that the Kingdom belongs to the poor. Let us pray to the Lord.
- That government leaders may uphold the dignity of minimum-wage and contractual workers, waste pickers, and others whose labor sustains society while leaving them economically vulnerable. Let us pray to the Lord.
- That, following the example of Jesus, we may welcome persons deprived of liberty, persons with disabilities, and those rejected because of poverty or social status, recognizing in them our equal dignity as God’s children. Let us pray to the Lord.
- That those who suffer because clean water, sanitation, healthcare, education, and other basic services remain beyond their reach may receive the support and opportunities necessary for a dignified life. Let us pray to the Lord.
- That the dead, especially victims of ecological disasters and those who died forgotten, may find lasting consolation in God’s Kingdom. Let us pray to the Lord.
God of compassion, open our eyes to those whom the world overlooks. Teach us to share the gifts of creation and to make room for all at your table. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
