PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL DURING SEASON OF CREATION

23rd WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - SATURDAY

L
audato Si’ reminds us: “The disappearance of a culture can be just as serious, or even more serious, than the disappearance of a species of plant or animal.” May our faith bear good fruit in protecting both the diversity of creation and the cultures rooted within it.

Response: LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Alternative: LORD, MAKE OUR LIVES FRUITFUL.
  1. That Church leaders, through the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, may continue raising awareness and standing in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples and local communities whose cultures are deeply rooted in the land. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. That government leaders may work closely with Indigenous and local leaders in protecting ancestral lands that are threatened by marginalization, violence, and commercial exploitation. Let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That, following the example of Jesus, our faith may be known by its good fruits, especially in the way we care for creation and respect the cultures and communities that depend upon it. Let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That those who suffer as consumerism erodes the social bonds, traditions, and ways of life that have long sustained their cultural identity may find support in preserving and passing them on. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. That the dead, especially those who faithfully preserved the wisdom and traditions of their communities, may find their eternal home in God. Let us pray to the Lord.
God of all creation, deepen the roots of our faith, that our lives may bear good fruit and be firmly founded on your word. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
