PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL DURING SEASON OF CREATION

23rd WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - SUNDAY

O
n this day of the Season of Creation, Pope Leo XIV writes in Magnifica Humanitas: “We should not be intimidated by tensions or differences because they can become creative forces when guided by shared responsibility.” Following Jesus, who teaches us to seek reconciliation through dialogue and listening, we pray:

Response: LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Alternative: LORD, MAKE US ONE.
  1. That the Church may create spaces where people with differing views can listen to one another and work together in caring for our common home. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. That government leaders may bring scientists, businesses, Indigenous communities, and citizens together in making decisions that affect land, water, and climate. Let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That, following the example of Jesus, we may speak directly and respectfully with those with whom we disagree rather than judge them from a distance. Let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That communities divided by disputes over land and natural resources may find just and peaceful solutions through honest dialogue. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. That the dead, especially those from whom we remained estranged, may rest in the reconciling love of God. Let us pray to the Lord.
God of communion, teach us to listen across our differences and transform conflict into shared responsibility for one another and our common home. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
